Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir is looking for a new MD for September 2026.
We are a friendly non-auditioned SSA choir of around 35 members. We meet to rehearse on Monday evenings at Chapel-en-le-Frith Town Hall and usually present 3 concerts a year, along with other events such as community carol-singing and fundraising for local charities. We celebrate music from many different cultures and continents – and aim for a high standard in all of them. The role is paid a generous hourly rate (details on application).

Music, inspiration and summer memories — our “Serenade on a Summer Night” concert at the Buxton Fringe Festival was a truly special occasion.
We invite you to enjoy the photos and videos from the evening.
We were delighted to receive this wonderful review following our Serenade on a Summer Night concert.
The evening celebrated a wonderful programme of music and marked a special farewell to our accompanist, Jane Simmons, after 20 years with the choir.
The reviewer captured the spirit of the evening beautifully:
"The Chapel-en-le-Frith ladies sang their hearts out in style, to the delight of an appreciative audience."
"The choir sang confidently and achieved a lovely blended and balanced sound over a variety of styles."
"The final pieces of the evening allowed a further tribute. Misty... and The Rose... both featured Jane Simmons on piano. The spotlight was turned in her direction for both these beautiful pieces and the applause demonstrated everyone's appreciation."
"The final song, America from West Side Story, showcased the individual sections of the choir as they passed the melody and tricky rhythms around confidently. It was a joyous way to end a celebratory evening."
We are grateful to Esme Upcott for her thoughtful review and to everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening.

After almost 20 years as our accompanist, Jane Simmons is stepping down from her role with Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir.
For two decades, Jane has been at the heart of our rehearsals and performances. Her musicianship, encouragement, patience, and unfailing support have helped shape the choir and enabled its members to find confidence and joy in making music together. Whether preparing for concerts, learning new repertoire, or performing before an audience, Jane has always been there with professionalism, warmth, and good humour.
Many members have had the privilege of singing alongside Jane for years, and her contribution to the choir has been truly invaluable. She will be greatly missed, both as an exceptional accompanist and as a much-loved friend.
Jane, thank you for everything you have given to Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir. We wish you every happiness in the future and hope you'll come back to visit us from time to time.
With our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes from everyone at Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir. ❤️
